A client who I did a Birth Color reading session asked me to create a pair of items based on their colors.
As it was a gift for someone special’s birthday,
I wanted to shape their feelings into something meaningful.
I kept thinking,
“What would feel natural and comfortable for a man to receive?”
After exploring different ideas, this suncatcher was born.
As a first step, I created a sample piece with a bird motif.

I carefully selected glass in shades close to each of the six birth colors.
For the dimensional parts, I layered clear glass—including vintage Japanese glass—
subtly bringing in a touch of Japanese essence, and finishing the piece so it shines more beautifully when it catches the light.
Some of their birth colors overlap, while others are different.
While holding that balance gently, I thoughtfully chose the texture and character of each piece of glass to reflect their individual atmospheres.
Even within the same color, the impression changes depending on the pattern and texture.
I valued those subtle differences as I shaped each piece by hand.
As I continued to reflect on the motif, the presence of their beloved dogs naturally came to mind from our conversation.
This time, I incorporated each of the three dogs into the design.
With that feeling in mind, this piece came to life.

And this time, along with the suncatcher,
I also created a pair of birth color keychains featuring a clover motif.

I was able to deliver the pieces in time for the birthday,
and received this lovely message from my client:
“The keychains and the suncatcher were even more beautiful in person ✨
I’m really glad we chose our beloved pets as the motif hanging beneath the suncatcher.”
Throughout the process of bringing this piece to life,
there were moments of exploring with my hands, as well as times when I paused to reflect.
But I’m truly grateful that I was able to stay with it and shape my client’s feelings into form.
And here is how it looks, now beautifully displayed in their space.

Seeing it displayed so beautifully with a lovely stand,
and knowing that the earrings I had previously sent are also being cherished,
truly filled my heart.
When I sent the pieces out, there was a small feeling of letting them go.
But seeing them so warmly welcomed, I felt deep gratitude, along with a joy that’s hard to put into words.
Birth colors are like a quiet companion,
gently supporting you through life.
When combined with pieces that catch the light,
they can bring subtle, comforting changes into your everyday moments.
A light that helps you return to yourself, in the quiet in-between moments.
If you ever feel like giving form to your own colors, would you like to gently bring that feeling into shape?
