Color Note 05

I made a small stained-glass panel for someone who recently tried my color therapy session.

While recalling the words that left an impression during the session and the colors she were drawn to, I worked quietly at night and early in the morning, imagining things like, “Maybe she likes this kind of atmosphere,” or “Would this color suit her?”
Choosing the colors is a special and exciting moment for me as well.

For this piece, I’m still undecided about how to finish the solder lines.
I like the clean silver look, but the black patina is also beautiful.
I’ll take a little more time before deciding on the final touch.

And then this morning, just as I had finished up to this point, she happened to give me an empty cookie tin.
She said, “I thought you might be able to use it for your glass scraps,” and handed it to me.

To my surprise, the tin had a bird illustration on it.

I hadn’t told her about the piece at all—everything is a secret until it’s delivered.
So when she gave it to me, I couldn’t help thinking, “Wait, at this exact moment?”
These little coincidences make me so happy, and I wanted to write it down here as a memory.

And here is the piece I made.

It’s hard to see in the photos, but the bird’s large wing has an opalescent finish.
Depending on how the light hits it, soft shades of pink and green gently appear and shimmer.

And here is the empty cookie tin they gave me, saying it might be useful “for keeping glass scraps from your stained glass work.”
