The snow has melted, and little by little, signs of spring are returning to my garden.
Maybe because we’ve had many warm days, the flower buds are starting to swell, and seeing them fills me with a sense of excitement.
Recently, I’ve been exploring ideas for stained glass × birth color items.
I’ve created a few prototypes, and I’d like to introduce one of them — a phone stand.
For this piece, I used floral glass as the main material, and the motif is “Sue,” a familiar character often seen in patchwork.
I expressed it using my own birth colors.

However, I was reminded that glass is a material that is more affected by weight and pressure than it appears.
Just when I thought, “It’s done!”, it would suddenly tip over as soon as I placed it down.
Finding the right balance of angle and strength was quite challenging, and it took a lot of trial and error.
I also realized that it was slightly too low, so it couldn’t hold the phone upright while charging.
So, I decided to try again.
This time, I created a version with a moon motif.
With some helpful advice from a friend, I designed it with a layered structure to increase its strength.
As a result, the back became a bit longer, but it can now hold the phone upright while charging.
It’s also comfortable for typing, and the height feels nicely balanced.

Smartphones are something many of us use in our daily lives.
Whether you’re cooking or working at your desk at home, there are many moments when you place your phone on a stand.
In those everyday moments, if something you see can be just a little bit cute,
I hope it can gently bring a sense of calm and warmth to your day.
I also have another piece that I created for someone special.
Please stay tuned just a little longer until I can share it with you.
